Enrofloxacin injection

Description :

Enrofloxacin is a bactericidal agent , the bactericidal activity of enrofloxacin is concentration dependent ,with susceptible bacteria cell death occurring with 20 -30 mins of exposure .

Enrofloxacin has demonstrated a significant post -antibiotic effect for both gram negative bacteria and is active in both stationary and growth phases of bacterial replication .

Indications :

Enrofloxacin injection is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against gram positive and gram negative bacteria as well as mycoplasmas and chlamydias .

Side Effects :

With the exception of potential cartilage abnormalitiese in young animals , the adverse effect profile of these drugs appears to be minimal .

Gl distress ( vomiting , anorexia ) is the most common , yet infrequently reported adverse effect .

Although not reported thus far in animals , hypersensitivity reactions , crystalluria and CNS effects ( dizziness , stimulation ) could potentially occur .

Precautions :

Enrofloxacin injection is not suitable for horse , dogs which are 8 weeks old and laying hens .

Dosage and Administration :

Inject intravenous or intramuscular for animals : 2.5 mg/ kg of bw .

Withdrawal Times :

Milk : 72 hrs

Meat : 14 days

Storage :

Store at room temperature ( 15-20°C) and protect from light .
